University Food Group, and its divisions, play an active role in the community. In particular through our relationship with My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
My Room was founded in 1992 by three families: The Marcoccis, The McGraths and The Rathbones. These families were personally touched by childhood cancer, and came together with the humble goal of raising enough money to renovate the rooms of the cancer ward of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH). They achieved that goal, and many more followed.
My Room Children’s Cancer Charity is a volunteer led organisation, working together to support patients and families affected by cancer, without the bureaucracy. They rely on the generosity of our donors to fund support for families, medical equipment, clinical care, research and trials. They’re committed to raising funds ethically and in a cost-effective manner.
Today, Maurizio Marcocci, a Managing Director of University Food Group, is the chairman of My Room. The charity won’t stop until there’s a 100% cure rate for childhood cancers. Until then, My Room will continue supporting patients and families during their treatment journey and into their future.
